West China School of Stomatology (WCSS) Successfully Held 2024 Annual Meeting of IADR Chinese Division
From November 22 to 24, 2024, the 2024 International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) Chinese Division Annual Meeting, hosted by the IADR Chinese Division and organized by the West China School of Stomatology (WCSS), Sichuan University (SCU), was successfully held in Chengdu.
The conference was chaired by Professor Ling Ye, President of the IADR Chinese Division and Vice President of Sichuan University. Professor Xianglong Han, Dean of WCSS, and Professor Zhengjun Shang, Dean of Wuhan University School of Stomatology, served as Executive Chairs. Dr. Christopher Fox, Chief Executive Officer of IADR, also attended.
Opening Ceremony: Innovation and Collaboration Shaping the Future
On November 23, the opening ceremony took place in the academic hall in WCSS. Prof. Ye welcomed participants on behalf of the organizers, expressing gratitude to IADR, the Chinese Stomatological Association, and all council units and colleges for their support. Dr. Christopher Fox commended the event’s crucial role in fostering global innovation and cooperation in oral health and encouraged participants to address pressing challenges through shared expertise and collaboration. Remarks were also delivered by Dean Xianglong Han and Dean Zhengjun Shang, with Professor Jiefei Shen, Deputy Secretary of the Party committee WCSS, hosting the ceremony.
Academic Highlights: Featured Reports and Cutting-Edge Insights
During the special keynote speech session, Prof. Cunyu Wang, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine, Prof. Songling Wang, Academician of CAE, and Prof. Wenyuan Shi, CEO of the American Dental Association Forsyth Institute, delivered impactful presentations on cutting-edge topics such as "Genetic Mutations of Oral Cancer", "Future Trends in Oral Medicine", and "Emerging Technologies in Dentistry", exploring frontiers and advancements in stomatology.
During the keynote speech session, Prof. Xinquan Jiang, Executive Dean of College of Stomatology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Prof. Xuliang Deng, Dean of Peking University School of Stomatology, Prof. Zhengjun Shang, Dean of School of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Prof. Lina Niu, Dean of School of Stomatology, the Fourth Military Medical University, Prof. Wei Qiao, Assistant Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, the University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Xianglong Han, Dean of WCSS SCU give speeches, offering valuable insights into the latest advancements in the field.
The conference offered a diverse range of sessions, including those focused on tooth development, poster exhibitions showcasing innovative research, presentations by outstanding young investigators, and reports from graduate students, all of which garnered enthusiastic participation from promising scholars and students. Additionally, the IADR Chinese Division Board Meeting was held concurrently, further enriching the academic atmosphere of the event.
The outcomes have been truly rewarding, with numerous students and young scholars receiving awards in poster exhibitions and oral presentations. It is particularly noteworthy that Associate Professor Fanyuan Yu from WCSS SCU has been honored with the IADR Hatton Chinese Division Award. This prestigious recognition will enable him to represent the Chinese division and compete for the esteemed global Hatton Award at the 103rd IADR Global Annual Meeting, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain, in 2025.
