Department of Head and Neck Oncology
Department of Head and Neck Oncology derived from Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery that founded in 1917. It is part of the National Key Clinical Speciality and mainly launches the clinical and basic research on head and neck tumors, salivary disease and reconstruction of oral and maxillofacial defects. Within China, we have first started the comprehensive and sequential therapy, gene and bio-therapy, radiofrequency ablation, intra-arterial chemotherapy of oral cancers. And we have also provided numbers of free flaps, bone grafts and functional parotidectomy. We commonly applied digital, CAD/CAM, 3D-printing, navigation and endoscopic technique in clinic for minimal invasive surgery of some head and neck tumors.
Department of Head and Neck Oncology have a strong ability for clinical treatment and scientific research transformation. At present, there are 14 doctors and 16 nurses in our department. Among the doctors, 71.4% of them are professors and consultants, and there are 3 PhD supervisor and 7 master-degree supervisor. We normally have 12 postgraduate students in our department every year. We’ve got numerous national and provincial research funds, and within the recent 5 years, we’ve got over 5 000 000 RMB funds and published over 100 SCI articles. There were 68 beds for the patients in our department. And this department is the place for national specialist training, standardization training of residents and dental nurse specialist training.
