Department of Oral Medicine
The Department of Oral Medicine in West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University is one of the oldest and largest comprehensive clinic centers for oral mucosal diseases in China. As a state key clinical speciality, the department has a strong technical force. There are 9 doctors and 4 nurses, who provide professional treatment and health care for a large number of patients from all over the country every day. The diagnosis and treatment level for common oral mucosal diseases (including oral lichen planus, oral leukoplakia, all kinds of ulcerations and infections of oral mucosa, bullous diseases of oral mucosa, burning mouth syndrome, lip and tongue related diseases) ranks first class in China. In addition, the department is also skilled in diagnosing and treating difficult miscellaneous diseases through multiple disciplinary team. Meanwhile, a variety of new techniques and services are adopted including non/micro-invasive clinicopathologic methods for the assessment of oral cancer risk, microscopy examination of pathogenic microorganisms, endoscopy examination, laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, and biofeedback treatment. The staff in this department has earned broad admiration from patients for their medical ethics and expert skills.
